Blepharoplasty in Dallas, TX

Blepharoplasty is the Answer

It's for aging, tired eyes that look puffy or saggy

Blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid surgery, removes excess fat, skin, and muscle from the lower and upper eyelids, giving them a much younger appearance. Blepharoplasty is a quick procedure, lasting only around 45 minutes, but the results are long-lasting and very rewarding. Dallas Plastic Surgeon, Matthew J. Trovato MD offers a state-of-the-art office with a welcoming atmosphere. Our dedicated medical staff and surgical specialists are highly trained and experienced. It is important our patients feel comfortable right away.

Benefits of Blepharoplasty

Beyond cosmetic reasons, blepharoplasty can also be performed to correct functional problems with the eyelids. Specifically, it is done to treat:

  • Bags under the eyes
  • Upper eyelid, and can even block vision
  • Excess fat in the eyelids, causing puffiness
  • Excess skin and wrinkles in the lower eyelid
  • Droopy lower eyelids, revealing the white underneath the iris
  • Loose or saggy skin, which can create skin folds that disturb the natural shape of the eye

Blepharoplasty Procedure

Dr. Trovato will administer either location
or general anesthesia

Depending on your discussed treatment plan. On the upper eyelid, the incision is made in the natural crease, hiding it almost completely. Fat is then removed, eyelid muscles are tightened, and excess skin is removed. On the lower eyelid, the incision can be made just below the eyelash line, at the corner of the eye, or even on the inside of the lid. Like on the upper eyelid, fat is repositioned, muscle tightened, and excess skin trimmed. Finally, your incisions are closed with sutures or skin glue. If sutures are used for your blepharoplasty, they will be removed after one week.

Blepharoplasty Recovery

As you recover from blepharoplasty surgery, Dr. Trovato will give you thorough instructions

They will include cold compresses and lubricating ointments on the eyelids. Recovery after blepharoplasty is very quick in most patients. There will be some swelling and slight bruising, but this passes within a few days after your blepharoplasty. At that time, Dallas blepharoplasty patients can return to their normal activities.

Blepharoplasty Results

Once the swelling and bruising subside, you will see immediate results.

Most patients take the entire two weeks to heal, but it may take a few months to heal completely. Your blepharoplasty results are permanent. However, natural aging still occurs. Therefore, it’s important to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen to maintain optimal results.
